Self taught artist Art has always been my comfort and passion!. As a teenager my companion was my camera, I captured many images that I would later transfer onto a canvas. Nature and life become my greatest inspirations. Growing up in Africa (Kenya) I have had the opportunity to visit game parks with and their scenic sights have been my motivators, birds, waterfalls and kaleidoscope of wild flowers make my soul sing.
The animals in the wild would give me a thrill their strength and their fears reminding me of the unknown. I loved to paint the dhows and boats that were docked on the sandy beaches at the coast – Mombasa… I would walk through the old town and capture with my camera images at every opportunity that I got. The old buildings with the beautiful crafted wooden balconies, windows and doors all whispered in my ear, an era of a past.
Drawing was never really difficult, finding the right medium has been a struggle but with practice and patience came satisfying results. My favourite medium has always been oil colors but I am now experimenting with watercolors this has taught me persistence. The self-challenge has built my confidence allowing me to tap into a newfound source of inspiration within myself – giving me the confidence to call myself an Artist! Visual art has lately become my solace and from this was born the range we call ‘Tummy Ticklers’ cute, cuddly and playful images.
